BeeHero Precision Pollination Hardware Design

In 2022, we partnered with BeeHero, a leader in precision pollination, to design and guide production of their core hardware: the in-hive sensor and field gateway.
This was more than a product challenge-it was a user empathy challenge. Farmers and beekeepers are often underserved by modern technology, not because they don’t need it, but because too much of it is designed without their context in mind. Our goal: make the tech invisible, intuitive, and built for the field.

Services Provided

Seamless precision-pollination tech for growers & beekeepers

We designed the in-hive sensor to be ultra-affordable for large-scale deployment, while minimizing complexity. It has no buttons, no setup screens, no learning curve—just automatic operation that blends into the natural workflow of the beekeeper. Assembly was also optimized for speed and scale in manufacturing.

Designed for gloved hands, fast Installs, real field work

Beekeepers work in suits and gloves, often moving quickly between dozens or hundreds of hives. The sensor was designed to be installed easily and securely while wearing full gear—ensuring rapid deployment without slowing down the work.

BeeHero agricultural IoT field gateway device

Mount-and-go field gateway for agricultural IoT

The gateway unit-responsible for aggregating data and sending it to BeeHero’s cloud platform-was designed to be equally plug-and-play. We engineered it for simple mounting directly on the hive using just two wood screws, eliminating the need for special tools, brackets, or training. This ensured fast field installation with minimal disruption to beekeeping operations.

The buzz behind the design

This project represents our approach to product design in agri-tech: blending rugged functionality with quiet simplicity, and always designing with the user-not just the technology-in mind.

Flybuster

An extendable fly trap

The fly trap requires sufficient volume to include its special liquid which attracts the flies as well enough empty space. The studio re-designed this blockbuster product with the intention to reduce production and logistics cost and improve retail presentation. The final product presented a design with a new expanding container which is shipped and sold in compact configuration and opened in time for out-doors use. FlyBuster’s open configuration multiplies it’s “catch” volume by 3 times trapping hundreds of annoying flies…
